WDC was founded in 1998, and has grown into one of the most reputable dance studios in Utah. When we set out to open our doors in Wasatch County, our mission was to bring a new approach to dance to this area and provide the best dance education in Utah. While this was a  big goal, WDC founders Vibeke Bodensteiner and Ciara Murano-Steele brought extensive  dance and education backgrounds to the business, and they knew it was realistic that they could achieve that.

WDC's Ballet Director Vibeke Bodensteiner earned the title of Ballet Pedagogue from Balletpedagog studiet i Bodø, she toured and performed with the school in Europe while earning her bachelor degree, and has directed ballet programs for the last 20 years. WDC's Jazz Director Ciara Murano-Steele has taught all over the United States, performed with and studied at Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor degree in dance, health and education.

Soon after opening, WDC dancers rocketed to the top. In 1999, the first ever dancers from Wasatch County were selected by Ballet West to perform in it's annual production of The Nutcracker, many WDC dancers have been selected since, including four dancers for the lead role of Clara. WDC dancers have also performed in Odyssey Dance Theatre's production of Thriller, Winter Wonderland and It's a Wonderful Life. In 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, WDC dancers were cast in the much sought after role of Clara in "Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular".

WDC dancers have won countless top titles, scholarships and awards, including the coveted New York City Dance Alliance National Junior and Teen Critic's Choice (2006 and 2008), and "Best Studio" award at Youth American Grand Prix (2007). Individually, WDC dancers have received top honors, such as third place at YAGP Finals in New York City, the Hope Award at YAGP Regional Competition in San Francisco, and National Mini and Junior Outstanding Dancer at NYCDA in New York City.

Numerous WDC graduates have been accepted to college and university dance programs all over the United States, many on scholarships. WDC dancers have either won and/or been runner up to the Sterling Scholar scholarship in dance for the past five years. Our dancers have also been accepted to the scholarship program at The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles and to innumerable Summer Intensives, including Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Kirov Academy, Joffrey Ballet School, Patel Conservatory and Ballet West. Former WDC students dance at The Juilliard School in New York City and Houston Ballet Academy. Alumni are dancing professionally with Repertory Dance Theatre, Odyssey Dance Theatre, and in Los Angeles.

Since the 2011 season, we have been proud to present a full length production of The Nutcracker, it has become a treasured family tradition in the community. All proceeds are donated to local charities (as seen on Good Things Utah 12/04/2014).

Part of our strategy to become Utah's best was to assemble one of the brightest faculties in the state. WDC's classes offer the highest quality technical instruction. Many of WDC's teachers are either accredited teachers or have performed professionally. These teachers know their technique, they know how to teach, they know how to help their students have fun and they inspire!

We focus on building each student's appreciation of dance as an art form. We focus on building each student's personal skills, helping them excel in many aspects of life including dance.WDC is for all ages, all abilities and all levels of interest. But one thing is certain, WDC students work harder, have more fun and come away with more than anyone else.
